At the request of the Central African Republic (CAR) authorities, the European Union established a two-year-long Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP) military training mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA), with headquarters in Bangui.
As an integral part of the European Union’s comprehensive approach, which encompasses political, security, humanitarian and developmental actions, EUTM RCA will build on the achievements of the European Union’s Military Advisory Mission in the Central African Republic (EUMAM RCA) and expand beyond it. It will provide strategic advice to the Central African Republic Ministry of Defense and its General Staff, education to vetted Non-Commissioned Officers and Officers, as well as operational training to vetted units and specialists of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA).
Within the Strategic Advisory Pillar and the Defense Sector Reform cell, EUROGENDFOR’s advisors are in charge of supporting FACA’s rebuilding and participating to the Internal Security Forces reform, working in close cooperation with the national authorities, in optimal coordination with the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
In order to meet the challenges the EUMAM mission will present, a new EUROGENDFOR Officer will soon arrive to the area of operations.
