On the 15th of April 2014, the European Council has approved the mandate of a civilian mission under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), to support the Internal Security Forces in Mali: The European Union Capacity Building Mission in Mali (EUCAP Sahel Mali).
Since the beginning of this EU mission (15 January 2015), The EUROGENDFOR has deployed in Bamako between 12 and 19 personnel. This was the first contribution of the EUROGENDFOR to an EU civilian mission.
This staff is in charge of headquarters functions inside the mission, and for the benefit of the Malian Ministry of the Security as well as the Civilian Protection, the Malian National Gendarmerie, the Malian National Police, the Malian National Guard and the Malian Civilian Protection. A significant task is to advise a strategic level and training in the Police Academy, the Gendarmerie school, as well as on the National Guard Training Center.
