The Koninklijke Marechaussee safeguards the security of the State, both in the Netherlands and further afield. It is deployed globally at locations of strategic importance: from royal palaces to the external borders of Europe, and from airports in the Netherlands to theatres of war and crisis areas all over the world. The Koninklijke Marechaussee is deployable for security in any situation at home and abroad, especially when the going gets tough.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee has a staff, its own training centre and 25 brigades which are part of the National Tactical Command (NTC). The NTC is the operational headquarters of the Koninklijke Marechaussee. It gathers and analyses information that is of importance to the performance the operational tasks. The NTC supplies this information to the brigade teams in the Netherlands in the form of work orders.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee has 25 brigades one of them is stationed on Curaçao in the Caribbean. These brigades perform security and military police tasks in their respective regions. Special Security Missions Brigade (BSB). This brigade has security, observation and arrest teams. The BSB is deployed whenever rapid, specialist action is required.

High Risk Security Platoons. These units guard and protect sites in the Netherlands that are most likely to be the targets of attacks. Criminal Intelligence Team. This team gathers information about serious crimes. Informants, individuals who secretly provide information, are the most important sources. The information obtained enables to prevent crimes and track down suspects. Identity Fraud and Documents Centre of Expertise and ID Desks (ECID). ECID is the national point of contact for document and identity fraud.

The Koninklijke Marechaussee Mounted Brigade. This brigade performs both operational and ceremonial tasks. The Koninklijke Marechaussee National Centre for Training and Expertise. At this centre, the members of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee receive their initial training but they also receive here the follow-up courses to maintain their level of knowledge.
