EUCAP Somalia

The EU Capacity Building Mission in Somalia (EUCAP Somalia) is a civilian crisis management mission which supports the development of Somali maritime security and wider policing capabilities. Launched in July 2012 as EUCAP NESTOR, the Mission initially supported countries in the Horn of Africa in developing their maritime security. In December 2016, the Council of the European Union decided that the mission would focus solely on Somalia and Somaliland. It was subsequently renamed EUCAP Somalia.
EUROGENDFOR currently participates in the mission by providing a specialised team in the maritime domain, which supports the mission in building the capacity of the Somalia Police Force Maritime Police Unit (SPF MPU). Additionally, EUROGENDFOR provides experts in the roles of strategic maritime adviser and mission security officer.
