The European Union Coordinating Office for Palestinian Police Support in Palestinian territory assists the Palestinian Authority in building its institutions, for a future Palestinian state, focused on security and justice sector reforms.
In 2006, the European Union decided to launch the UE Police and Rule of Law Mission for the Palestinian Territory to assist the Palestinian Authority on security and Justice sector reforms. The support carried out under Palestinian ownership and in accordance with European and international standards.
Since September 2022 a EUROGENDFOR assets is deployed on EUPOL COPPS Mission, as Mission Security Officer.
On 30 June 2024, ended the mandate, but on 1 July, it was extended for 1 year till the 30 June 2025.
After the war broke out in Gaza, EUPOL COPPS started to work with the Palestinian Authorities to reinforce the EU efforts in preparing and advising the Palestinian security institutions (Palestinian Police) in order to fight the increased social instability in the West Bank.
The mission has continued with the implementation of the Mandate, being the only International Organisation that continued during the days after the attack in Gaza, still operating in the West Bank, although with a limited presence.
