Captain (ESP-GC) José María GALERA CÓRDOBA
On 9 March 2010 he was deployed within the NATO Training Mission in Afghanistan until he was killed in action in a terrorist attack on 25 August 2010.
He was posthumously awarded the European Gendarmerie Force Golden Medal for Gallantry.

Appuntato Scelto Manuele BRAJ (ITA-CC)
On 25 June 2012, while supervising the shooting practice in the local base’s shooting range, Manuele BRAJ was mortally wounded by the devastating explosion caused by a rocket, launched by members of a terrorist cell against the observation post where he was on duty with other soldiers.
He was posthumously awarded the European Gendarmerie Force Golden Medal for Gallantry.
